“No rain can’t stop this jam,” the words of popular Barbadian entertainer Edwin Yearwood in his hit song Weekend were most appropriate at Reading Carnival this bank holiday Monday!

For the last five years Funtyme Associates, which is organised by Martin Jay and Mike Forbes, has been travelling to regional carnivals with a massive London posse to enjoy the festivities.

The love and dedication to soca music of these two popular Djs have brought local carnivals such as Reading and Luton alive, with the company of all the soca lovers from the capital city of London.

This year the Funtyme massive hit the streets of Reading on Monday 29 May 2008, ignoring the weather and having a fantastic time, as despite the weather local residents still came out with their umbrellas to watch and support the bands as they filled the streets with excitement and laughter.

The true soca lovers who came out to play mas this bank holiday Monday, had a fantastic time and will certainly be ready to do the same come Notting Hill Carnival in August!
