Derrick "De Hunter" St Rose, snatched the crown from three times Calypso Monarch Dennison "Dice" Joseph in the early hours of Sunday 18 February at Carnival City in Pottersville, Dominica.
The 2007 Calypso Monarch said, "A lot of people had already written me off, saying I could never win again, but I know my ability and I have always had my confidence very high. The thing about our country, they love new things all the time. I knew sooner or later I would come through with a bang. You're not going to be winning every time, but when you do lose, you lick your wounds and you come again."
Hunter, who also won the title in 1998 and 2000, has plans to release an album sometime this year.
