On August 2nd, the Liverpool Samba School will host a Brasilian Samba Carnival in the Liverpool City Centre as part of its Capital of Culture year.

With all the hype of being the 2008 Capital of Culture it was considered important for the people of Liverpool to be directly involved in a huge event, that would be memorable, fun and for everyone.

To achieve this the samba school which has been running in Liverpool for over 10 years has over 800 spectacular events behind them, chose the model of the Brasilian ‘Carnaval.’

The Rio-style carnival promises to be a truly exciting event, with irresistible rhythms, extravagant costumes and floats, in true Brasilian Samba style with glitz and glamour.

The European Capital of Culture is a city designated by the European Union for a period of one year during which it is given a chance to showcase its cultural life and cultural development.
