Pan Trinbago officials are anxiously awaiting news from TSTT on the fate of popular pan events Pan in the 21st Century and Pan Down Memory Lane.

The 2008 edition of the competitions may not be held, if sole sponsors, TSTT, fail to come forward with a decision regarding the event.

TSTT has been involved in the sponsorship of Pan in the 21st Century since the first event in 1998, and took title sponsorship of the event in 1999.

There was no competition in 2000 and Pan Trinbago decided to take this competition out of the Carnival season with the introduction of judging in the panyards.

According to Patrick Arnold, President of Pan Trinbago, the competitions seems to be jeopardised because of last minute arrangements by sponsors.

The Pan Trinbago president noted that this is the second year the event has been experiencing problems with sponsors.

Arnold said that despite the unsure fate of the competition, bands have been practising in anticipation of the event.

When will we come to the point in our experience and culture of self sufficiency? So, if tstt decide to keep back money, no pan? About 10 years of funding from tstt, where all de money gone? Nobody save for a rainy day? No one in the pan fraternity, of major importance to the country and world, set up a savings or investment opportunity? This indictment seems true to most of the cultural experiences these days. We have and are heavily reliant on sponsorship of some sort year in and year out.
