Vincy singer, songwriter Fimba started singing at an early age possibly thanks to his biggest inspiration his father Honey Boy Bells.
Like many soca artistes today Fimba started in the junior calypso monarch before moving over to Soca.
Fimba continued his singing career when he moved to the USA and recorded his first track Steele Bottom.
Since then he has released Wining Wining, Eyes On You, and his latest track Horn. With a desire to make an impact on the music industry, Fimba has many ideas that he is ready to unleash to make him a household name.
SN: You are known to the public as Fimba, but what name were you given at birth and where were you born?
Fim: My full name is Fimba Jardine and I was born in St. Vincent.
SN: How would you describe yourself?
Fim: I am a very honest and fun loving person.
SN: What is your favourite dish?
Fim: I love steamed fish and rice.
SN: When not working, what do you do for relaxation?
Fim: I listen to music and play soccer.
SN: What is your worst nightmare?
Fim: It would definitely be waking up to no music.
SN: What is the most embarrassing experience that you have ever had?
Fim: Going to a party uninvited and getting thrown out. That was so not cool.
SN: If you were to leave the USA, where you are currently living, where would you go to live and why?
Fim: I will definitely go back to my home town Mespotamia in St Vincent because that's where it all began for me….. life, family, friends and my love for music.
SN: How do you see the Soca industry in the year 2010?
Fim: Setting higher standards and bringing more cultures together.
SN: How important is technology for you as an artist? What do you use to communicate with your fans? (eg Blog, myspace, hi5, email etc)
Fim: Technology helps me to keep in touch with my fans and promoters especially through my myspace page, where people can log on to hear my music.
SN: How long have you been singing?
Fim: Since I was eight years old, when I competed in the Junior Calypso Monarch in St Vincent and made it to the semi final round.
SN: What/Who are your musical influences?
Fim: My dad (Honey Boy Bells), Red Plastic Bag, Machel Montano and Bob Marley.
SN:What do you think you bring to the industry?
Fim: Love and Togetherness.
SN: What would you like your musical legacy to be?
Fim: A foundation for the future of the kids.
SN: How does singing/performing in front of a crowd feel?
Fim: Joyful and blessed.
SN: How do you choose the songs you sing?
Fim: Past experiences and everyday life.
SN: Out of all the tracks you have ever recorded, what would you say is your favourite?
Fim: Steele bottom
SN: How do you approach composing a song and where do the ideas come from?
Fim: Composing a song depends on the mood I am in and my ideas come from the good and the bad under the sun.
SN: Do you think music has the power to influence everyday life and events?
Fim: Yes, I think music has a strong impact, because music is life and life is music. Music can inspire and motivate someone to become a better person and can also bring people together.
SN: There has been an increase in Soca videos over the last 5 years. Do you feel that it is imperative for an artiste to have a video?
Fim: Yes making a music video gives the artiste the opportunity to let the audience understand the full meaning of the song and it can also give the artiste major promotion.
