The Soca Music Awards will celebrate all that is good about our Caribbean music and culture, and focus on those who produce, write, play, sing or are involved in some way with the soca music industry.
Still not recognised by major radio stations, although there have been breakthrough by artists such as Kevin Lyttle - St Vincent, Rupee - Barbados, Alison Hinds - Barbados and in the very early days Arrow – Montserrat, soca, the Soul of Calypso, has come a long way since its inception in the 1970s. The music can now be heard on stations such as Choice 96.9FM & 107.1FM, BBC 1Xtra and a large number of community stations up and down the country. |
