Carnival in the Caribbean grew out of slavery, a mixture of African and European cultures and a reaction to the injustice and constant labour. Now, in addition to each island’s carnival, the Caribbean comes alive for the growing numbers of music festivals in the region. Carnivals have erupted all around the globe, some begun by those from the Caribbean Diaspora, and others with a history all their own.
