The emphasis of the abolition of the slave trade. There will be a focal point of the grounds - emancipation village, which starts at 1.30pm. At 12.45pm the Mayor will officially open the Carnival. 1pm the parade will start till 4.30. Troops will go to the stage, where artists are performing. Main stage begins at 3.30pm. There is aslo another stage for the youth and activities for children e.g- funfair, bouncy castle ect. 3 steel bands will be participating and soca artists which are not yet confirmed. This carnival attracts 100,000 people each year. There are food stalls and arts and crafts stalls which centre around the square. The event finishes at 8pm, there is a dance afterwards at the African Caribbean Centre, starts at 9pm. |
