International recording Soca artist Kevin Lyttle is currently thrilling African audiences while on tour.
Lyttle who is best known for his 2001 hit song Turn Me On, took to the stage on Saturday 18 August at the annual Boda to Boda Music Festival.
Originally from St. Vincent and the Grenadines and currently residing in Miami, Lyttle shared the stage with Ngoni duo of Aydee and Pato in Dar-es-salam.
On Wednesday 22 August he is off to Uganda, thanks to the US-based Suudi Entertainment International, where he will perform at upcoming musician Henry Tigan's Aboogezi album launch on Friday 24 August.
According to Lyttle he is ready to collaborate with any local artist who would like to feature him in their songs, however, he advised local artists who want their music to be known internationally to put more emphasis on the visual part.
"Visual is very important, people might not know what you are saying, but the way you dance and act in the video would attract them and then begin associating themselves with it," he said.
"I had to use my own money in the beginning then I picked up gradually and people came to know about me," he said, while stressing how much hard work is involved in going international.
Lyttle who signed with the Atlantic records in 2003, and is no longer with the international label will be releasing his second album in two months.
"The album with Tarakon Records label has only two songs left to do before it is completed," explained Lyttle.
Lyttle, whose first African language is Kiswahili, said he is going to Kenya and other parts of Africa before heading back to US. |
