Literacy and Peace - International Literacy Day

The literacy theme this year gives special emphasis to the Caribbean Child Support Initiative (CCSI), and is being supported and promoted by the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). The aim of this initiative is to highlight literacy issues, whilst finding way to develop literacy throughout the Caribbean - with the final aim of developing and maintaining a cilvilised society by alleviating poverty, violence and conflicts.

Soca News challenges its readers to be sensitive to those who may have any kind of literacy issues; we believe that we should all share knowledge and find creative ways to enhance and brighten the lives around us  - through literary and any other means at our disposal.
