In what can only be described as a hat trick the Antigua & Barbuda National Panorama results were an exact replica of last year. The finals which took place on Thursday 2 August saw the LIME Hell’s Gate Steel Orchestra beat off five challengers to retain the National Panorama title, over the Digicel Halcyon Steel Orchestra who took the first runner up position and second runner up the Carib Seas Harmonites Steel Orchestra.
Hell’s Gate, with a little over 100 players, and performing in position number five, played a Khan Cordice arrangement of Sir McLean Emmanuel’s J’ouvert Rhythm, to get the judges nod.
The Digicel Halcyon Steel Orchestra, which played in position number two, with 110 players, performed Victor Babu Samuel’s arrangement of Short Shirt’s We Are The Ones and Carib Seas Harmonites, which played in position number four, with a little over 60 players and was the smallest of the “big bands”, performed Aubrey Lacu Samuel’s arrangement of Short Shirt’s Kangaroo Jam.
