The dust has hardly settled on Trinidad and Tobago Carnival 2012, and already some of the large and medium costume bands are teasing would-be masqueraders with glimpses of their 2013 presentations.
Not ones to rest on their laurels, veterans Harts Carnival Band have revealed a French theme for their portrayal. Entitled Je T’aime Carnival, the portrayal evokes the eroticism of Parisienne nightlife, and will be launched on 10 August at the O2, Chaguaramas. Nothing less than the best should be expected from this band now in its 61st year.
Also making an early start are newcomers K2K Alliance. Led by sisters Karen and Kathy Norman, the band will present The Human Race, a theme based on a sporting analogy which incorporates the principles of self-belief and determining one’s destiny. No date has yet been given for their launch. K2K Alliance made its debut this year in the medium band category and won accolades for its fusion of fashion design and mas; they look set to continue this trend in 2013.
