Caribbean tourism officials, artists, chefs, fashion designers, and investors are all due to converge on New York this June when Caribbean Week in New York returns to the city.
Organised by the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) USA, the event promises to showcase the diversity and vibrancy of the region through business forums and consumer-oriented events as well as food, fashion and entertainment. It also aims to promote the region as a major vacation destination. Caribbean week kicks off on 1 June with a reception jointly hosted by the CTO and the Mayor of the city of Mount Vernon, NY, Ernest D Davis.
It continues with a Gospel Celebration on the 3rd, the Caribbean Travel & Cultural Fair on the 6th and the ‘Rum & Rhythm’ culinary experience on the 8th, before culminating on the 9th with the highly anticipated Caribbean Travel, Art and Fashion Expo.
The CTO is particularly keen to engage with the Caribbean Diaspora since this group plays a key role in boosting travel to the region. To this end it has organised a forum on 5 June focused on defining the needs of the Diaspora and strengthening the relationship with travel-related businesses and organisations.
